5 Things Successful Women Do On A Sunday

Updated: Jun 3, 2022

For most women, the weekends are a time to unwind, relax, engage in recreational activities, go for a hike in nature, or do some maintenance work around the home. There can be nothing more beneficial for your mind, body and soul to recalibrate your energy after the hustle and bustle of a demanding week at work.

Successful women opt for a combination of both leisurely activities and bringing order to their work, home and everyday tasks. Doing so allows them to get the most out of their work weeks, allowing for more creativity, productivity, and peace of mind.

Below are five things successful women do on a Sunday.

#1. Organise the week ahead

Successful women love to organise their weeks in advance. They ensure important meetings are scheduled in their calendars as well as any social events they have planned. They prepare for the week ahead to accomplish every goal they've set out to do with greater ease and flow.

Also, during a busy week, the last thing you’ll want to do is make multiple trips to the grocery store. Since some women entrepreneurs are mothers, failing to plan can lead to a disastrous week ahead. Planning for your meals for the week ahead is also another way to ensure you stay on top of your week, as you can prepare enough groceries and have all the grocery items you need on hand.

#2. Bring order to the house

Successful women start their week with a clean slate. Organizing the house over the weekend is a great way to start the coming week with a fresh start. Decluttering the house may seem like a daunting process, but you’ll feel much better about it once you’ve finished.

Some of the steps you can take to prepare for the clean-up include:

a). Have a plan. Schedule the clean-up at least a few days ahead of Sunday. Also, you may want to call in help, such as hiring a cleaner or gardener.

#3. Take time to read and relax

Many successful women spend their Sundays relaxing and reading a good book. This can be a fictional book or an inspirational one. Fictional books breed creativity, while inspirational books breed motivation. Here is a list of Amazon bestsellers in the Women and Business category.

American Journalist, Margaret Fuller once quoted, "Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." It’s no surprise that women entrepreneurs read books; therefore, if you want to improve as an individual and in your career, schedule time for reading.

#4. Prepare their wardrobe for the week ahead

Successful women have little time to put serious thought into what they'll wear each day. Many simply opt to put their hair in a bun, put on some skinny jeans and a blouse, and they’re good to go. However, the good news is that if you take time on Sunday to plan your outfits for the week ahead, you'll accomplish your goals and do so in style.

Some of the steps that you can take to prepare your wardrobe for the week ahead include:

a). Thinking about the activities/events you have planned for the week ahead. E.g., Are there any meetings or social activities you have on? Are you meeting any important clients?

b). Consider the weather. The last thing you want is to feel uncomfortable due to the weather.

c). Start with basics. Select the dresses, pants, and skirts you plan to wear for that week. After that, select the tops for the pants and skirts.

d). Select the blazer or jacket for each selected outfit.

e). Select the shoes and accessories.

Once you develop the habit of preparing your wardrobe before the week starts, you'll enjoy every moment of your journey. Furthermore, you’ll feel much more confident in yourself when you feel good in what you wear.

#5. Visualise outcomes for the week ahead

Visualising is imagining what you want to achieve in the future as if it were already true in your present moment. Most people think visualisation is mystical, but that is far from the truth. Visualisation is a practice you can train your brain to do in a bid to direct your subconscious to the goals you have in mind.

Visualising your outcomes for the week ahead prepares you to realise your goals. We live in a world where we're constantly bombarded with an overload of information, and we can easily get distracted. This is why visualisation is important, as it helps you push distractions aside and focus on the actions that will ultimately turn your vision into a reality.

There are two types of visualisation:

a). Outcome visualisation: It entails envisioning the end-point you desire in the future.

b). Process visualisation: It entails engaging all your senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing) to envision the step towards the desired outcome.

To conclude

Success comes to those who are diligent with how they use their weekends. It takes sacrifice and commitment. For most successful women, Sunday is not just a day to put their feet up on the couch, but it's also a day to plan for the week ahead, so they feel more at ease during their weeks. Life should never feel like a burden, and the more we strive toward our goals with ease and grace, the more likely we are to accomplish them. On the other hand, if we’re stressed and overwhelmed while working towards our goals, we will be less likely to achieve them in the timeframe we set out.

You'll find yourself effortlessly flowing through the week ahead when you incorporate these 5 tips. It’s also important to note that the quality of your personal life and how you manage everyday activities are linked to the success you create at work, as all parts of your life are heavily intertwined. You are more than capable of accomplishing all of your goals without neglecting any aspect of your personal life.
